This is the second guest blog post by Pretty Amazing Reader Cover Contest Winner Zoe Damacela!

Right now is a really exciting time of year because I’m right in the middle of designing and planning my Fall 2012 RTW collection! People always ask me how I come up with ideas for my garments and how I design them, so I wanted to show all of you all the steps I take to make a collection!

First, I have to come up with an idea. I’m always thinking about how I can use things around me to create ideas for the clothes that I make. This year, I visited the Adler Planetarium in Chicago and I discovered that I LOVE space! I’ve always loved sci-fi books and movies, and once I spent some time in the Planetarium I found a brand new interest in space and planets. So, for my Fall 2012 collection I decided that it would have a sci-fi theme.

Next, I have to think about colors. Usually, I’ll sketch out a few ideas for designs using a croquis, and experiment with colors by drawing out my ideas in different colors until I find one that fits. Right now I’m really loving deep purples, royal blues, and of course a little metallic accent to complement the sci-fi theme.

Then, I spend a few weeks coming up with dozens and sometimes even hundreds of sketches! I just draw whatever comes to mind, as quickly as I can. After I have a good selection of sketches, I’ll narrow it down to the top 60 or so that I really like. Once I have those, I like to take the ideas that I really like and edit and refine them until I have about a 30 piece collection that I really love! After that, I get to work making them!

This perfume is sweet and sexy, and guys are sure to love it. It’s all meant to capture Rihanna’s feminine fierceness — no wonder the bottle was inspired by a stiletto heel!
