Hello, Seventeen monsters! Last night we camped out in Central Park to see Lady Gaga.
Well, camping minus the tent, pillows, blankets, and really anything that we
needed (eek!). Although we forgot certain necessities, we did remember to bring brownies and BBQ chips!
During our 15-hour camp-out, we observed the fans
dressed in wigs, sparkly makeup, hats, heels, and leotards. Every Gaga fan
dressed differently, but all followed the “don’t be a drag, just be a queen”
motto.
Our favorite outfit had to be the one in the photo
below. This Gaga fan sported an Egyptian inspired outfit wearing an edgy gold
necklace strung with sharp dagger shapes.
After taking a photo with Tom and chatting up other
equally creative monsters, we decided to do some DIY projects of our own. Lexi
decided to pin her graduation robe and added jewels and stars. Olivia decided
to make a skirt out of playing cards (walking go-fish, anyone?) by punching
holes and stringing the cards together. Two easy and affordable DIY projects
that anyone can do-perfect for a Gaga concert, where anything goes!
What crazy DIY styles have you tried? Sound off below!

I love getting ready for a big night out. I consider it half
the fun of the night! I make a point to try a different hairstyle and makeup
look each time. But until I became a beauty editor, I never knew that “getting
ready” could actually be a career! Recently, I got to be a guest judge at
Empire Beauty Schools‘ Future Pros Expo, an annual convention where Empire’s
cosmetology students showcase their talents. Not only did I see what a passion
these students have for their work, but that hair and makeup is about so much
more than simply getting someone ready—it’s an art form!
Case in point: I got to judge Long Hair Evening Design,
which transformed my understanding of what I ever thought possible for hair.
The contestants (102 of them!) had one hour to complete a ‘do from start to
finish. After the hour was up, the judges had to go around and score the
designs. Every look was amazing, and it was so hard to choose. But ultimately
my favorite was crowned the winner—check out the stylist, Sylvia Winfield, hard at work above. I caught up
with Sylvia afterward to get the inside scoop on
the prep work leading up to the event (it was a lot!). Click “Read More” to check
it out!
