WHAT SHE’S WEARING: “I’m wearing thrifted high-waisted tweed trousers, Modcloth heels, The Limited sheer blouse, a bow-tie clip courtesy of Lola Dee Handmade, a thrifted suitcase, and a 1950s brass Renior belt with a chain from my grandmother. If you like my style, check out my blog, The Littlest Polly!”

Beauty Battle: Lauren Conrad vs. Jamie Chung

When I saw Lauren Conrad’s supercute look from the Us Weekly Hot in Hollywood party, I knew that it looked very familiar. A few weeks back, up-and-coming starlet and Sucker Punch actress Jamie Chung wore practically the exact same look at her movie premiere. Let’s see how this week’s beauty battle plays out!

On the left we have LC, who sported a slightly wider top-knot than Jamie’s. Her defined brows framed the face beautifully and she confidently showed off her sparkling-white smile. She’s rocking clothes from her very own line, Paper Crown, and her dainty necklace didn’t overpower the overall look.

On the right is Jamie: Her edgy, rocker-cool outfit offset her ultra-feminine hair and makeup quite nicely, and her stud earrings added a touch of elegance. The fresh-faced actress looked flawless!

LC, the veteran celeb, has stiff competition! What do you guys think? Who’s the winner of this chic beauty battle?

Beauty Look of the Week: Lauren Conrad at the Us Weekly Hot in Hollywood Party

WHO: Lauren Conrad

WHERE: The Us Weekly Hot in Hollywood Party

THE LOOK: As a style honoree at the Us Weekly Hot in Hollywood Party earlier this week, it came as no surprise that Lauren Conrad looked classically stunning as usual. She rocked her signature beauty look—a perfectly coiffed top knot, winged eyeliner, and a crisp red lip—while also showcasing a cute outfit from her very own Paper Crown clothing line. And that’s exactly why she’s our Beauty Look of the Week!

GET THE LOOK: Makeup Artist Amy Nadine created Lauren Conrad’s look using all CoverGirl products. First, she applied NatureLuxe Silk Foundation in Sandstone all over the face and neck with a sponge. Next, she created a pretty glow using Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Plush Peach, warming it up between the fingers and then swirling it on the apples of the cheeks. To create the cat-eye liner, Nadine used LineExact Liquid Liner in Very Black. Starting at the inner corner of the eye, she lightly dragged the tip of the liner across the lash line and flicked it upward and outward toward the brow. Here’s a pro tip: The harder you press down on the tip, the thicker the line, so Nadine recommends starting with light pressure and then gradually increasing it as you travel across the lash line toward the outer corners. She applied two coats of LashBlast Fusion Mascara in Very Black and even tucked a few individual false lashes just in the outer corners to enhance the winged effect. Last but not least, Nadine finished by swiping Lauren’s lips with LipPerfection in Tempt, a bold scarlet color, and then lightly dusted them with translucent powder for a matte effect.

What do you think? Do you love Lauren’s signature beauty look, or do you think she should change it up? Let us know in the comments section below!

Irish Beauty Brand Voya Gives Skin Natural TLC

Voya.jpg

From time to time, I still daydream about a heavenly spa treatment I got a couple of months ago while on vacay in Kauai. Called Voyage From The Sea, it’s a four-handed massage-plus-facial combo (doesn’t just the thought of it make your body go ahhhh…?) offered at the St. Regis’s brand-new (and very posh) Halele’a Spa, and I swear, my muscles never felt so Jell-o-like and happy. Since coming back home, my face has been totally freaking out from the temperature changes—very oily one minute and then superdry post-cleanse—and I’m kicking myself for not stocking up on the skin-care products that were used in the facial! Voya is a seaweed-based organic line from Ireland that’s hugely popular there but still under the radar in the U.S. I certainly had never heard of the brand before, but its My Little Hero face serum (packed with a blend of organic oils) and Maskerade face mask (made with seaweed and soothing chamomile extracts) performed a beauty miracle: They brought balance to my skin. No more ricocheting back and forth between extreme shininess and flaky dryness—FINALLY! Voya is currently carried in a limited number of places in the U.S. (for the full list, go here. If there isn’t one near you, though, don’t stress—trust me, this brand will blow up stateside soon enough.

Countdown to Prom: Instantly Boost Your Lashes with Eylure

eyelure-countdown-to-prom.jpgAny formal event definitely calls for gorgeous, high-glam eyes, and one of the easiest ways to make your peepers pop is to wear faux lashes. Not so easy, you say? Sure, trying to apply eyelash glue onto a superthin lash strip can quickly turn into a gloppy mess, but Eylure’s Ready To Wear lashes eliminate that problem: They come pre-glued, can be applied and reapplied until perfect, and are reusable—plus, at just $6, they’re totally affordable too! Eylure, the top false eyelash brand in the U.K., recently launched stateside at Ulta stores and ulta.com, and has been worn by iconic screen sirens like Sophia Loren and Elizabeth Taylor. Hey, if it’s good enough for them . . .

Here, celebrity makeup artist Jake Bailey (who uses Eylure lashes on Katy Perry) graciously shares his lash-application tips!

Exclusive Style Council Interview with Daniel Vosovic

Hey Seventeen!

We had the opportunity to attending the preview of Daniel Vosovic’s
A/W 2011 collection in NYC. We had an amazing, fun interview with
Daniel and asked about the new line, as well as the inside scoop about
his time on Project Runway. How could we not?!

Here is our amazing Q&A with Daniel Vosovic:

17: Who you are as a designer!

DV: I’m
a very lucky guy who is doing what I love doing! I have always been
interested in art and design in all forms: drawing, painting, sculpture,
dance, film, art history, and more. My interests veered towards a
career in fashion when I took a clothing construction course in college - everything just
clicked for me. It was then [that] I knew that I could do something I
love for the rest of my life.
