The Best Halloween Mani!

Candy Corn NailsYou might have your costume, makeup, and party plans figured out for Halloween, but do you know how you’re doing your nails?! If you’re looking for a super-simple idea, check out this cool candy corn design Seventeen reader (and nail polish blogger) Brooke shared with us!

Happy Halloween! For the sweetest Halloween nails, try this fun candy
corn design. Not only is it easy, but it is the perfect Halloween treat
for your nails. This might be the one time when biting your nails is a good thing!

1. PAINT NAILS YELLOW
I used two coats of OPI Need Sunglasses?, but pretty much any yellow should work. Let that dry for a few minutes before moving to step 2.
2. PAINT ORANGE STRIPES
I freehanded the stripes, but you could use french nail guides if that
is easier. I made the stripes curved, because I thought that looked more
candy corn-like. To do this, I painted from the left of the nail to the
middle using the flatter side of the brush, then I painted from the
right side over, connecting the two arcs. Then I filled everything in up
to the tips of my nails. For this, I used two coats of OPI Flit A Bit. Let that dry before moving to step 3.

3. PAINT WHITE TIPS
Complete the candy corn designs by
adding white tips. This can also be done with french nail guides, as
long as the polish below is totally dry. I freehanded this using the Kiss Nail Art Striper in white. This has a really thin, tiny brush, which is perfect for finer detail work.
4. TOP COAT
To finish my mani, I applied TWO coats of Seche Vite. This helped to smooth out the layered feeling, plus it made my nails shiny and it has protected my mani for nearly one week.

Make sure to check out Brooke’s blog, Babbling Brooke, for more cool nail ideas!
