AGE: 18
HOMETOWN: Waianae, HI
WHAT SHE’S WEARING: “I’m wearing my straw top hat complete with a satin bow from Claire’s. Paired with black oversized glasses from Urban Outfitters, a cinched at the waist H&M romper, brown buckled Charlotte Russe knee-high boots, and my Gramps’ giant gray Raulph Lauren sweater.”
UNPREDICTABLE LADY:
My personal style reflects the personality of an indecisive and open-minded girl. I can’t decide what style I love best, so I wear them all, granted not all at the same time. I have different moods, different sides of my personality, and different styles to show them all. I dress according to how I feel and with some sort of cultural influence, either Asian or Hawaiian, and always with a twist. You can see my ever changing style on my blog http://www.fashionwrites.blogspot.com/

There really isn’t a shortage of anything in New York City (except maybe real estate), and working in beauty for my second summer, I’ve learned that there are more salons and spas in this city than I will probably ever be able to visit in my lifetime. With that being said, great salons and spas are no doubt some of my favorite places to retreat to after a long day, so whenever I get a chance to visit a new one, I jump at the opportunity. A few weeks ago, I received an invitation to visit Prive Salon in SoHo, where makeup artist Fumi gave me an awesome makeover for a night out with my friends. While giving me a simple but sophisticated look with heavy top eyeliner, a few fake lashes, and pink lips, Fumi gave me some makeup tips and tricks to pass on to all our lovely Teen Vogue readers:
- Too many girls focus only on makeup application, when cleaning up your skin is just as important. Make sure you take care of your skin, always wash your face before going to bed, and never forget SPF!
- Be careful when using liquid eyeliner, and make sure you practice creating a smooth line before you wear it out–otherwise it will look messy.
- Everybody has makeup shades that work well for them, depending on their eye colors and what they wear. For green eyes, try green eye makeup; blue eyes, try smoky eye makeup; and for brown eyes, you can try anything!
- Too many girls wear foundation that’s too heavy. Most teens need only a little bit of tinted moisturizer to even out skin tone.
- If you must wear foundation or powder, make sure you get one that matches with your body color, not just your face color–or it can make your face look white and washed out. If the color that matches the rest of your body looks too dark on your face, blend it onto your neck.
- Stay natural: Teens are beautiful the way they are and shouldn’t cover up their faces with too much makeup!
