America’s Most Wanted

evaprison.JPGYesterday, I got a super sneak peek of TIGI Bedhead’s fun new hair line… On TIGI’s most wanted list? People with damaged hair (like moi!). They snapped this photo of me as a beauty offender–hopefully after I use their new shampoos and conditioners, I’ll be off scot-free. I’ll keep you all posted on my hair recovery process!

Long Live Queen Anne!

annehalice.jpgEveryone I know is psyched for Alice in Wonderland for different reasons… 3D, Johnny Depp, Teen Vogue cover girl Mia… But I, for one, am excited to see Anne Hathaway’s turn as the White Queen! I love her look in the movie–the hair! The lips! The brows! So fashion forward! No less gorgeous (but a little less dramatic) was her look on the red carpet at the premiere. Love her red carpet look? Kate Lee, her makeup artist, shared the products needed to get her look!

EYES: Le Stylo Waterproof Eyeliner in Prune; Color Design Eye Shadow in Ciel du Soir; Hypnÿse Drama Mascara in Excessive Black
SKIN: Photÿgenic Lumessence foundation in Ivoire 2C; Blush Subtil in Sheer Amourose

Dark Arts

darkarts.jpgI’ll admit I was a bit, er, spooked when I got Three Custom Color’s new spring collection. Black lipstick? Surely not! But when I tried some of it on, I was amazed! The color goes on super sheer and layers gorgeously over any existing colors you already own, giving it depth and a richer tone. Black magic, indeed! Buy yours today at Threecustom.com!

Brassiness be Gone!

DetoxShampoo.jpgHaving this crazy blond hair is fun, sure, but it’s also a TON of work. Besides having to go in every four weeks to maintain a (more or less) rootless appearance, in between I have to deal with serious brassiness. Anyone living in NYC or in a relatively old house probably has some rather funky pipes delivering water to their shower, which means minerals galore infiltrating your strands and corrupting color. Mine transformed from a super-lovely white blonde to an icky orangey yellow lickety-split, setting me on a search for something that could undo the horrible hue. Violet shampoos and conditioners helped a bit, but what really did the trick was Davines’ Detoxifying Shampoo and Conditioner. These miracles totally pull out all the residual minerals and brassifying chemicals in your hair, leaving it a much purer color. After washing with it once a week, the difference is subtle, but noticable, and totally saves my life in between salon appts. Thank the heavens for Davines! Find a retailer near you at Davines.com

Sweet Thing

paulandjoe.jpgI may wear a lot of black (and, lately, studs and spikes). But, deep down,
I’m a girly girl! I’m a total sucker for anything pink and ultra-feminine.
When I got the latest batch of Paul & Joe makeup, I pretty much swooned!

Q&A with Sports Star Kaya Turski

kaya.jpg

Kaya Turski is quickly becoming the next big female star of winter sports due to her 1st place finish in the Women’s Slopestyle event at the 2010 Winter X Games. The freestyle skier blew everyone away with her dominating performance, landing the highest score in the history of the event, and outscoring the second place winner by 11 points! But off the slopes Kaya is just like any other low-key 20 year old–read on to learn more about the rising superstar.
When and why did you start skiing?
My dad taught me to ski when I was about 3 years old. I kept at it until I was 8 and then I started to rollerblade. When I was 16, the rollerblading industry was going very slow and it was tough to get any support and at that point something drew me back to skiing. Felix Rioux from my shop sponsor, D-Structure, hooked me up with some Salomon skis and I gave it a try. I decided to go out west to Whistler, BC in January of 2006 to see how much fun I could have with it and I completely fell in love with the sport. The rest is history!
What do you love about your sport?
I love the freedom that comes along with it. Since I’ve become a professional skier I’ve traveled to the most amazing places and met some great people. Traveling often to foreign countries and working with my sponsors has taught me to be very independent. It’s an amazing feeling to think that I am traveling to New Zealand, Switzerland, France, and other amazing countries, trying out different foods, skiing different mountains, meeting new people, and it’s all for my job! It’s amazing!

How did it feel to win the gold medal of the Winter X Games? How huge was this win for you?
I was completely elated and the feeling was surreal. Ever since I heard about the X-Games as a little girl it’s been a dream of mine to be a competitor and win the gold medal. Winning this was definitely one of my major goals in life and now that I have the gold, it’s all about adding more to my repertoire.
What music do you listen to on your runs?
I like to listen to a lot of Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, and The Game. I like rap a lot because it’s got a good beat and it gets me really amped to ski.
What do you wear when you’re not skiing?
I like skinny jeans and cute boots. These days, I’ve been rocking moccassin boots or some pink moon boots because they keep me nice and warm. I like big sweaters, kind of “sac” style. Just really comfortable and cute!
What’s your favorite gear to ski in?
Well, my favorite skis are the Salomon Mai Tai women’s park ski, my favorite outerwear is the Orage Kaya jacket, and some matching pants, usually a little on the bigger side for comfort in the air, and of course my Redbull hat to add a little bit of style to my head! For eyewear, I use my Oakley a-frames or crowbars, they’ve got the best lenses ever, and to rock out to my music I’m using my Skullcandy Icon headphones.

What are your must-have beauty products?
First off, I always have my Chapstick with SPF with me because it’s so useful for those sunny and really cold days on the mountain. And I love Clinique mascara, foundation, powder, and lip gloss for when I go out!
What advice do you have for other young female athletes?
Well, in the extreme sports world, women are no doubt outnumbered by men. My advice would be to not get discouraged if you feel alone or if the boys are giving you a hard time. Embrace the fact that you’re a girl and don’t give up! Work hard for your dreams and believe in them and they will come true in time. Deep down, I always felt like I would get to the X-Games one day and never gave up on that dream. Lo and behold, I made it and I think with hard work and perseverance, anyone can do it.

Get Emilie de Ravin’s Look

emile.jpgEmilie de Ravin is on top of the world right now! Not only does she get to
star alongside Edward Cullen (I mean… Rob Pattz!) and appear on my
favorite television show (LOST), she looked crazygorgeous at the red carpet
premiere of her new movie, Remember Me. I got the scoop from CHANEL
Celebrity Makeup Artist Kara Yoshimoto Bua, who got Emilie glowing: “I was
inspired by the beautiful beige soft tonal palette of Emilie’s dress, hair,
and shoes. I felt that the palette would be complimented by a smoky pewter
on the eyes, which would also pick up on the jewelry. Her eyes were a mix of
CHANEL Soft Touch Eye Shadow in Black Star, and the CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow
in Dunes
. I then used CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir on the top lashes,
and CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Brun on the bottom lashes. On her cheeks I
used CHANEL Blush Duo in Tweed Sienna,a bronzy peach shade. I kept her lips
light and neutral with CHANEL Lip Definer in Praline D’Or, and CHANEL
Glossimer in Beige Guitare
.”

Keith Richards Predicts New Stones LP

The group’s guitarist Keith Richards wouldn’t “be surprised” if he and his bandmates - singer Sir Mick Jagger, guitarist Ronnie Wood and drummer Charlie Watts - return to the studio in the near future. He said: “There are no definite plans for an album, but I can’t see any of us stopping. I wouldn’t be surprised if we did some recording later this year.”
