The winner!
The medal ceremony. So neat!
Hanging out with a very patriotic fan after the event. She was so cute!
How we roll…
At the Oakley Rolling O Lab testing some awesome lenses with laser beams, bb pellets, and metal torpedos. So cool.
Attempting to learn how to ski. By the end of the two hours, I was the Queen of the Bunny Hills!
The view of Vancouver at night from the tram.
At the Oakley Safehouse… Even Olympic athletes eat candy!
The Oakley Gold, Silver, and Bronze watches given to medal winners!
Me with my new German speed skating buddies.
Getting into the athletic “frame” (har har) of mind while building my custom Oakley glasses.
Last week when I posted that I’d be heading to Vancouver to check out the Olympics, I could really hardly believe it. I kept thinking, “Really?! Me?!! Olympics!!” before squealing and doing a little dance and trying to believe my luck. I still kind of can’t believe it! My Olympic weekend was so interesting, and so much fun, it’s definitely one of the highlights of my life!
Day 1
Our first day was by far the most relaxed. I left my apartment bright and early on Saturday morning to catch a 9 AM flight through Salt Lake City to Vancouver. I was too excited to sleep on the flight and ended up fidgeting pretty much the entire way there! When I landed, it was like landing on planet Olympia — everything was decked out in the 5 rings or photos of athletes. I met up with the other girls on my trip (who were awesome!) and we headed downtown to our apartments. The first stop once we got to the apartment building was an official Oakley makeover! Score! I snagged some awesome Gretchen Bleiler Lite Eco Women’s Snow Pants, and a super super cute Helena Ski Jacket — it’s glittery!!! We also got some special Olympics goggles to test out on Grouse Mountain (more on that later.)
Being a Saturday night, the city was pretty rowdy. I actually don’t think I’ve ever seen so many people yelling and cheering out on the street, dressed up in crazy outfits except on Halloween. After a super yummy dinner we headed home and on the way found a couple dressed as Olympic “bears” in fuzzy costumes and ski goggles. It was pretty cute! That night we heard partying in the streets until the wee hours - but I hit the hay early, totally wiped from a long day of traveling and looking forward to a busy weekend!
