Movie Night

emilybluntwolfman.jpgI can’t lie–I don’t know how well the new Wolfman movie will do at the box office… But one thing IS for sure–Emily Blunt looked gorgeous at its premiere! I got the scoop from her hairstylist, Laini Reeves (owner of Essensuals London, essensualslondon.com). “To set the mood, I made a custom flapper style accessory–a peacock feather fashioned to an elastic headband. I took the hair and twisted it up, over and into the band, keeping in tight to the head. The messy texture of the hair helped to modernize the look.
Step 1: Start with hair that is smooth and glossy. Laini has been using Shu Uemura Essence Absolue while on tour with Emily, a light blow dry lotion that helps to smooth hair and give great gloss. Apply this prior to blow drying.
Step 2: Gently scrunch dry hair to encourage a natural wave and boost texture
Step 3: Secure the headband and twist hair up and over around band, to back of head with messy bun at nape of neck
Step 4: Loosen a few strands to create a more modern, soft, tousled look
Step 5: Finish with a light holding spray.”

Sometimes All You Need You Need Is A Little Lipstick

laurelsartorialist.jpgLately I’ve been a real devotee of neon lips - Mandarina by Milani to be exact. I’ve worn it every day of Fashion Week and get endless compliments on the shade. My devotion to my bright orange hue grew ever stronger when I saw my portrait on TheSartorialist.com! So to all who were wondering, it’s Milani Mandarina, and you can pick it up at the drugstore for $4! And thank you, Scott, for one of the prettiest pictures of me ever!
