Confession: even though 99% of my wardrobe is black (or navy or gray!), I LOVE pink. I’m secretly a girly girl! And I’m totally feeling this new shade from KO polish. It’s sweet but a little subversive too, thanks to the matte finish. I’m going to test it out tomorrow! Visit koknockout.com/ to learn more.

…with these Valentine’s Day hair ideas from Redken. Read on for super-pretty hair tips from Anthony Campbell, Redken Session Stylist:
ROMANTIC WAVES
“A soft wave is always a romantic, easy and versatile Valentine’s look . A variation of this classic look is to alternate the direction of the curling iron as you move down the section - it gives a natural look to the curls. To create this look, first apply Redken fabricate 03 heat active texturizer ($13) to damp hair to provide protection and enhance texture. Then, blow-dry section by section with a medium-size round brush, concentrating at the roots for extra volume. When entire head is dry, take a 1-inch section and mist with hot sets 22 thermal setting mist ($13) to help lock-in the curl and protect from the heat. Using a 1-inch curling iron, wrap the section one way around the barrel from roots to mid-shaft and let heat for 3-4 seconds. Repeat this step but wrap the mid-section of the hair the other way around the iron. Finish by wrapping the end of the section in the opposite direction yet again. Repeat section by section until entire head is curled. Let the style cool, and then run your fingers through the curls to break them up. Finish by misting workforce 09 flexible volumizing spray ($15) over entire look for a light hold to help curls last all night. Need an extra volume boost? Every hour or so, flip your head over and shake out your hair - this will instantly give you extra-needed body and emphasize the curls.”
SOPHISTICATED PONYTAIL
“To heat up the night with extra sleekness, opt for the more sophisticated look of a clean updated ponytail. A ponytail can be a simple look, but by adding the right elements and accessories, you can create a romantic and sophisticated style that trumps any traditional updo. To start, apply a heat protectant blow-dry gel, like blown away 09 protective blow dry gel ($16) to damp hair. Using a flat brush, blow-dry hair back in the direction you want the ponytail - direct higher for a high ponytail and lower for a lower ponytail - and secure with elastic. Mist iron silk 07 ultra straightening spray ($15) on 1-inch sections of the ponytail and run a flat iron slowly from the base to the ends for extra smoothness and to lock in fly-aways. Finally, take some red velvet ribbon and secure to elastic with bobby pins and braid the ribbon into a 3-strand braid to the end of the hair, securing with elastic a few inches from the ends. Adding the ribbon is a great way to infuse some fashionable accessories and soften the look for a sweet Valentine’s Day ‘do.”

Day
four of my Fashion Week duties started out with a bit of a downer; I
found the first model for the fitting in tears because she had just
heard the news about the very sudden death of Alexander McQueen. McQueen was an inspiration to
the global fashion industry and the news about his suicide is very sad and what everyone’s been talking about all morning.
Though there were very few dry eyes we continued on
with fittings, pinning composite cards to the board and taking digital photos.
Run of show is almost finished! I can’t wait to see the finished product! More to
come, stay tuned and fabulous!

Well, NYC got hit with a huge
snowstorm yesterday (see the New York Public Library, just steps away from the
tents covered in snow). That means I have an un-cute outfit on (rain boots and a
down jacket). Its not even worth posting for you guys… I promise to give you
outfit updates later in the week.

My first show this morning was BCBG, which I got to go to with the adorable Keke Palmer! Since Keke is Seventeen’s
guest fashion week blogger, she will be sharing her thoughts on the
show a little later on, but for now I wanted to show you guys something
that’s always seen backstage in hair and makeup — the face chart. This
is what the makeup artist draws the look for the show on to give out to
press. It’s always cool to see what the difference is when it’s on
paper and then later, when the makeup is applied on an actual model.
Sarah Lucero, Stila’s
lead makeup artist, created a very fresh-faced, nude look for BCBG’s
show — brown mascara, cream eye shadow and nude lipstick were the
colors used. Sounds easy enough right?
Will you rock the all nude trend for fall? Tell me below!

Remember a few weeks ago when I blogged about wanting to go mega-blonde but
being thwarted by my crazy damaged hair? Well, thanks to L’Oreal Professionnel Inoa, I’m
living the dream!! I am super, ultra, crazy blonde and THRILLED! The new
color system is offered at Ted Gibson NYC as well as a handful of other NY
salons. The new color system is UNREAL! Inoa (which stands for Innovation No
Ammonia) contains no ammonia (obviously), so it doesn’t smell, doesn’t burn
your scalp, and doesn’t wreck your hair’s cuticle. In fact, L’Oreal Professionnel claims
that after nine treatments with this wonder your hair will feel like it’s never
been colored before. Even better? Its oil-based color delivery system forces
more color into the hair shaft than traditional color, meaning brighter
color that fades less than traditional means. Can you tell that I’m
obsessed? I sat down in Jason Backe’s chair at Ted Gibson last night with my
heart pounding in excitement. Jason was just as revved as I was and we had a
blast as he did a single process to lighten all my hair with Inoa and then
went back in for a full head of highlights. The result? Exactly the Narnia
White-Witch with crazy dark brows look I always wanted. Oh! Also, while I
was being rinsed and deep conditioned, Ted Gibson himself arrived in the
salon and coolly, casually divulged that he had just been hanging out with
Cameron Diaz. Jason and Ted, I love you guys.
