YSL Hosts The Masquerade Ball of the Season to Celebrate Parisienne

Last night, French fashion house Yves Saint Laurent hosted the coolest masquerade ball to celebrate Halloween and the launch of their new fragrance, Parisienne (You’ve probably been seeing the ads with Kate Moss everywhere!).

I got the chance to check out the party with a few friends like fashion designer Edward Fong (on the right, in the crazy black mask!) and it was so much fun! The invite said “mask and stylish attire required”, and most of the party’s guests went all out!

Check out some of my faves and learn how you can win a trip to Paris by clicking “read more”.

Smoky Eyes a la Chanel

chanel-bloomingdales.gifCheck out Chanel’s AMAZING new Makeup Studio at Bloomingdale’s 59th street store in NYC. Isn’t this sleek space just dripping with glamour?? It’s Chanel’s largest beauty installation in the entire country and the ultimate playground for every beauty-obsessed girl, whether you’re dying to try out one of their trend-setting nail polish shades or figure our which fragrance–maybe the young and sensual Coco Mademoiselle? Or perhaps the enduring classic, No. 5?–fits you best. In celebration of the Makeup Studio’s debut, makeup artist Kate Lee (she’s glammed up every Hollywood starlet from Anne Hathaway and Keira Knightley to Diane Kruger and Sienna Miller) gave an in-store tutorial on how to create a smoldering smoky eye using Chanel’s Quadra Eye Shadow palettes in Bleu Celestes and Smoky Eyes. Here, she shares her top tips:

  • “A smoky eye doesn’t have to be dark. Use as little or as much color as you want, whether it’s a charcoal black shade or a soft plum.”
  • “I like to do the smoky eye before starting any other makeup. That way, if you accidentally get a little bit of eyeshadow on your face, you don’t end up ruining your foundation or powder.”
  • “I like playing with dimension by using a matte eyeshadow powder in the socket (this pulls the eye back and creates depth) and using a slightly shimmery powder on the spots that you want to bring forward, like the inner corners.”
  • “When you blend the eyeshadow along the eye socket area, always blend inward instead of outward. If you keep blending outward with your makeup brush, you could easily end up extending the shadow too far.”
  • “If you’re wearing a smoky eye, don’t do a strong brow. It’ll look super heavy and dated.”
  • “The most important thing you need to create a smoky eye is confidence. Don’t be afraid to try it out!”
