The Hysteria hitmakers have put their gigs on Monday, in Nashville, Tennessee, and Tuesday, in Birmingham, Alabama, on hold due to an unspecified bereavement affecting one of the group’s members.

But the band plan …

Get a Winning Look with Tips from Pageant Experts!

Pageant contestants sometimes only have a few minutes to get ready
in between rehearsals, interviews with judges and photo opps, not the
usual hours you would expect them to have, so they have to get it
right! We got the scoop from the pros and competitors alike at the Teen Miss USA pageant on how to always look your best.Miss DC

  • First, you have to pick the perfect dress. “The rule of thumb is
always be true to yourself,” says Robin Fleming, a style consultant and owner of La Casa Hermosa in Florida (she’s been dressing contestants for years and even gave
away an evening gown to every girl that participated in the Miss TeenFantasy Camp!). “Imitation may be the best form of flattery, but it’s not the winning
look. It’s just you trying to be someone else. We’re always looking
    for
a very personal angle in putting someone together. Also, discover your
body type, and refuse to buy garments that do not flatter your figure.”
    Jessica
    Nowlin, Miss D.C.
(right), picked a dress that suits one of her interests.
“I’m fascinated with mermaids,” she explains. “My evening gown reminds
me of The Little Mermaid. It’s flowy — it’s almost like the ocean is following behind me.”
Don’t go overboard with accessories, warns Robin, who recommends
picking only one or two bold items. “I think the bigger the better, but
    less is more.”

Style Council: Madisen Gets Ready For Back-to-School at the JCPenney Fashion Show!

style councilTo kick off for back-to-school, the Style Council joined JCPenney at the Manhattan Mall for their grand opening. Among many models and important people, the Mayor of the City and Kimora Lee Simmons came to support them for their big debut. After we were dressed head to toe and all dolled up, we went outside and were placed in windows as live mannequins during the fashion show. Then we headed back in for touch ups and our own runway walk and interview! It was a blast — we even got to keep some of our outfits! I loved the jewelry that I kept. It looked like designer pieces, but with a JCPenney price! It was a day that us Style Council girls will definitely remember!

Xoxox,

Maddie

Style Council: Remy’s Runway Panic at the JCPenney Fashion Show!

style councilFriday marked the official opening of JCPenney. Translation: 33rd St. was packed from 6th to 8th Avenues with shoppers, shoppers, and did I mention shoppers? I arrived at the Seventeen offices to get my hair and makeup done at 8 a.m., where I was greeted by fellow Style Council member Stephanie (Madisen would meet us at JCPenney later). This is one of my favorite parts of being on the Style Council — I always pick up a few tricks from whomever is helping us look superglamorous.

Selena Gomez’s Teen Choice Awards Red Carpet Look!

Seventeen’s September cover girl, Selena, looked absolutely gorgeous at the 2009 Teen Choice
Awards last night! Mark celebrity makeup artist Mai Quynh shared the secrets
behind her look:

Face: “Selena wore a beautiful, lavender one-shoulder
dress, so we wanted to keep her look fresh and flirty. I
started by applying Mark Face Expert Flawless Touch Makeup in Natural with a foundation
brush. I then applied Get Bright Hook Up Highlighter in Natural
under her eyes and Mark Just Pinched Instant Blush Tint in Nude to the apples
of her cheeks. Once the foundation and creams were applied, I set
everything by dusting Powder Buff Natural Skin Foundation in Natural with
a powder brush. To finish her cheeks, I swept Mark Good Glowing Mosaic
Blush
in Hush Baby using the blush/bronzer brush. I like to layer powder
blushes on top of cream blushes because it makes them last longer.”

Eyes: “For her eyes, I started by applying I-Mark
Custom Pick Eyeshadow
in Tart to her entire eyelid, from the lash line to the
brow bone using an eyeshadow brush. Then I lined the top of her eyes
using Mark On the Edge Hook Up Liquid Eyeliner in Cleo, winging the outer tip
like a cat eye. I then used Eyemarker in Jet to rim the bottom of
her eyes and finished by applying two coats of Mark Make it Big Lash Plumping
Mascara
in Raven.”

Lips: “I completed Selena’s look by applying mark Dew
Drenched Moisturlicous Lip Color
in Skinny Dip to her lips.”

Great job, Mai, we love it! What do you think?
