I had a fun meeting yesterday with Bettijo Hirschi, creator of the natural bodycare line Bath By Bettijo (she makes amazing body scrubs and lotions that smell SO yummy!), and she gave me two facial mask recipes that use ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen at home. Try it out with friends this weekend–what better way to get your spa-fix without spending big bucks?

Just Peachy Facial Mask (for normal-oily skin; can soothe inflamed and irritated skin)
Ingredients:
1 ripe peach
2 tbs of natural yogurt
1/2 tsp of baking soda

Peel, pit, and mash the peach, combine with other ingredients and mix well. Finally, apply to face and let dry. Remove with warm water and a washcloth.

Milk & Honey Facial Mask (for dry skin; has skin-softening and smoothing properties)
Ingredients:
4 tbs powdered milk
1-2 tbs warm water
2 tbs honey

Combine the powdered milk with enough water to make a paste-like texture. Blend in honey until smooth. Wet the washcloth with as hot of water as you can stand. Spread mixture over face and relax with the washcloth over your face for 10-15 minutes. To finish, remove mask with washcloth and pat dry.

Thoughts: This tube definitely lives up to its claim of a false-lash finish! My eyelashes looked crazy long and thick–perfect for a dramatic night look. The formula is loaded with natural waxes and polymers that pack serious staying power (despite some mid-day eye rubbing, this goo didn’t budge), as well as red seaweed extract to define lashes and boost elasticity. While I didn’t see any clumps, the mascara miraculously seemed to fill in the spots where my lashes were a bit less plentiful. Of all the formulas I’ve tried, this one is SERIOUS! One swipe of the wand and your lashes will be totally transformed.
Best for: Drama queens who want to make their eyes the center of attention! Great for short, sparse lashes.
