Oooo, how pretty are these illustrations from Laura Su (who designs the accessories line Prismera)? No doubt the result of her studies at RISD (of Seth Cohen–The OC fame… Sigh, still miss that show), the illustrations are the perfect pictures to hang in a girly bedroom (or in my case, in my closet!). Buy one for $20 (for 5×7) or $46 (11×14) at prismeradesign.com.

My lash type: Sparse, medium length, straight
I tried: LORAC Visual Effects Mascara
Thoughts: When I pulled the mascara wand out of the tube, I was immediately intrigued by the odd shape of the applicator: a four-sided brush with comb-like bristles and a contoured shape to follow the natural lash line. One stroke of this unique wand made my lashes look twice as long and beautifully jet black, but the formula was a little too heavy for my sparse, wispy lashes and I had to remove some of the excess mascara with a tissue. But if you happen to be blessed with naturally thicker lashes than mine (LUCKY YOU!), this mascara will definitely take you into drop-dead-gorgeous territory. Also, the tapered end of the brush did make it much easier to reach the shorter lashes at the inner corners of my eyes as well as really bring out the longer lashes at the outer corners, too.
Best for: All types of lashes, except maybe those with super fine ones. Girls who want dramatic lashes worthy of the red carpet without having to keep layering on mascara will love this product.
Buy it at: Loraccosmetics.com for $19.50
