How-To Videos from Sally Hershberger

SH-wave-spray-img.jpgLately I’m obsessed with wave sprays! I’ve been eagerly testing any and all that come across my desk, as I’m coaxing my curls back out of their Keratin-induced straightness. While it seems like wave spray would be pretty fool-proof, getting gorgeous beachy waves is actually more difficult than I anticipated. Sally Hershberger to the rescue! The hair-genius is behind a series of “how-to” videos housed online, my favorite being her step-by-step using her Wave Spray, titled “Define Wavy Dimension,” and she also offered her tips on getting beach-babe perfect waves. Read on for her three-step-system for gorgeous waves!

Sally’s Tips for Perfect Beachy Waves in 3 Steps!

“Summer hair is all about natural and sexy. Undone waves are in this summer, as well as low ponytails or chignon’s for nighttime. It is easy to pull long daytime hair up in a loose messy French twist or chignon to look instantly sexy and chic. I love to accessorize with headbands and scarves to add a sexy twist.” -Sally Hershberger

Get gorgeous ‘Gisele’ waves that are defined, frizz-free and full of volume!

STEP 1: Start with my Shampoo and Conditioner for Wavy Hair.
They provide plenty of moisture but also support waves.

STEP 2: Rake a water-based foam, like my Style Primer* for Wavy Hair, through damp hair from the crown down to enhance and define natural waves.
Then let hair air dry if you have the time and patience or blow dry with a diffuser.
*Style Primer for Wavy Hair is also a Beach Bag Must Have!

When you get out of the water, rake some Style Primer for Wavy Hair through your hair for an amazing beach-y style. Watch as your hair dries frizz-free, with amazingly sexy waves.

STEP 3: Make it extra mussed and beachy with a moisturizing texture spray like my Wave Spray.

30 Days Of Mascara: Lorac Lotsa Lash

lorac-mascara.jpgMy Lash Type: Medium length, slight curl, sparse
I tested: LORAC Lotsa Lash
Thoughts: This mascara has nylon fibers built-in to latch onto your lashes and create a more full look, and I have to say it did volumize my lashes. It separated my lashes without clumping them, and it definitely created a more full look. I also loved the jumbo brush on the applicator, which made it easy to apply to the whole lash, and it also contains a pro-vitamin B5 to condition your lashes. But it didn’t lengthen my lashes, which is mostly what I personally look for in a mascara.
Best for: Girls who have naturally long lashes, since this one doesn’t add much length.  And also for those who want a lighter, natural-looking mascara.
Buy it: Sephora, Ulta, or Beauty.com for $19.50
