When Eva handed me the Clarisonic skincare system to try out, I’m not going to lie: I immediately had a flash back to my high school days. I have a history of trying new products and waking up to a red, puffy face and itchy eyes (thankfully, nothing a little yogurt mask and ice packs couldn’t fix). To put it mildly, my skin is fairly sensitive, so I did a little research before trying this product out.
What I learned is that the Clarisonic is made by the creators of the Sonicare electric toothbrushes. In essence, it has adapted that concept to make a “face brush.” With 300 movements per second the Clarisonic promises cleaner, clearer, smoother skin. It washes away makeup six times better than manual cleaning, and is two times more effective. When your skin is this clean, it’s easier for it to absorb products.
Despite my history of reactions to masks and different face washes, the Clarisonic was not like anything I have ever used before. I LOVE this product! It’s gentle enough to use twice a day and, as promised, it made my skin super soft and clean without drying it out. The Clarisonic isn’t cheap (it runs from $195-$225 at sephora.com), but the benefits are definitely immediate and noticeable, and I would recommend it for all skin types. This gadget is completely legit!

My lash type: Normal with medium length and thickness
I Tested: Urban Decay Skyscraper Multi-Benefit Mascara
Thoughts:
This mascara works great! The ultra-sleek velvety black tube had
already won me over, but the Skyscraper mascara did indeed live up to
its name. It thickens and lengthens (and adds a slight curl) without
getting the goopy look that plagues many teens. The brush is made of
silicone and was specially designed to reach and condition every last
lash. The mascara contains Panthenol, a form of vitamin B that
moisturizes without irritating, and silk proteins that strengthen your
lashes. This is my new favorite mascara and this may sound strange, but
I actually think it made my lashes softer?!
Best for: Girls with short to normal lashes who want that extra skyscraping length and a fuller look.
Buy it at: Sephora, ULTA and select Macy’s West locations for $22.

So… I was reading the Dispatches from the Island blog that’s written by Jorge Garcia (from LOST–my favorite tv show) and I realized that, beyond the usual beauty (and occasional fashion) posts, I’ve been slacking on posts about my adventures outside the office! So I’ll be posting pics soon of my recent trips to Milan, LA, Palm Springs, and more!!
