Sofia asks: “How do I get movie star hair?”

Who wouldn’t want beautifully groomed hair like we see on the stars? Not to worry! Rolando Beauchamp of Bumble and bumble Salon gave us some tips on how to get gorgeous movie star hair.

“The key to getting movie star hair is all about ’setting hair’ to achieve lift at the root and a bit of polish.  Almost all hair you see on the red carpet, whether it’s an updo or loose around the shoulders, starts with set hair. It takes a little effort but it’s well worth the extra step.

Step 1: Prep hair with a multipurpose styler like Bb. Styling Lotion. To add even more body use Bb. Thickening Spray.

Step 2: Use a one-inch curling iron and wrap sections of hair making sure to twist away from the face.  Secure each curl to the scalp with a one or two bobby pins creating an X formation. This technique ensures a universal set.

Step 3: Spritz with a bit of Spray de Mode Hairspray to set. Leave hair in set for about 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Option 1: Brush it a bit to loosen into waves. Create a very straight low side part for a more glamorous look.

Option 2: For a more casual beachy look, rake fingers through hair and massage at the root to take away any obvious curling iron lines and prevent the look from appearing “too done.”

Option 3: For a great updo that’s elegant but touchable, create a DEEP side part, GENTLY gather hair right at the center back of head and twist into a bun, inserting pins along the coil as you go. No need to be perfect! The careful set and side part already creates polish, the updo can be created with a little roughness.  Finish with a bit more of Spray de Mode to help the style last.

I also believe in super healthy hair.  Weekly treatments with a masque rich in oils like coconut and avocado like Bumble and bumble Creme de Coco Masque is essential.”
