Sally’s pretty solidly regarded in NYC and LA as the go-to stylist for super chic “who, me? No, my hair is just naturally perfect and adorable” cuts. She recently shared her top trends with me:
“Short and layered is one of the hottest looks for fall from shoulder length bobs with light layering around the face to pixie cuts. Style it sleek, sexy/messy, or even something a little more out there like a mohawk-pixie,” she noted. “Also, 80’s style is making an incredible comeback this fall through fashion and makeup and hair is no exception. Try a one-length bob with layers around the face similar to Debbie Harry’s look in the 80’s or Drew Barrymore today. This look is versatile, sexy and super easy to style. It’s an easy haircut to transition to other looks when you want the long layers back.”

I recently got these tips from LA-based fitness expert and Nike elite athlete Ashley Borden on how to reduce your carbon footprint at the gym and thought that you earth-friendly ladies would enjoy…
1. Buy a 32oz reusable water bottle (nalgene-outdoor.com) - This may seem obvious, but just imagine how many bottles you will avoid dumping in a year if you go to the gym even three times a week? That’s 144 bottles!
2. Bike to the gym one day a week - train yourself to ride, not drive. Then build up days from there. One mile in a car can equal up to one pound of carbon released into the atmosphere so every time you walk, bike or run, you’re reducing your carbon footprint!
3. Organic Cotton Serenity Tights or Capris (patagonia.com) - Patagonia is setting the pace for green companies. These tights are soft and stretchy for unrestricted mobility on the mat, and they have an adjustable waist that rolls up or down.
4. Reversible Yoga Mat (gaiam.com) - Made from a patented phthalate- and latex-free material, it’s thick, grippy and durable, perfect for anything from restorative poses to hot and sweaty vinyasa yoga.
5. The “Rita” bamboo dress from Sworn Virgins (twigandtwill.com) - I love this eco-fashion line. Its made from bamboo and is softer than cotton! Throw it on over your workout tights to grab a quick lunch after your workout. Bamboo is a critical element of the economy. It is 100% biodegradable, naturally grown, thriving naturally without any pesticides/fertilizers.
6. The “Koren” recycled rice bucket bag - (ecobags.com) - A large, lightweight and durable bucket bag made from recycled rice bags that will hold more than you can imagine. Made in a fair trade environment in Cambodia of recycled (reclaimed & washed) rice bags from Vietnam.
7. Train at home or outside with a GoFit Gravity Bar (gofit.net) - It builds strength and core stability using your own body weight. Or, have a “excerise swap day” with your friends once a month and trade equipment, dvd’s, etc — for more variety and less waste.

Hi Guys! I’m starting to see some pretty Resort collections right now. Resort
is the delivery between Fall and Spring. It usually hits stores late winter.
It’s a designer’s way of getting you to shop for new things when you don’t
really feel like it or are too broke from holiday shopping. Smart, right?
Anyway, I went to Diane von Furstenberg’s show last week and she had a
lot of pretty party dresses. To see some of my faves, click “read more.”

Love how bright and poppy these headbands by Nahui Ollin are! And I love that they employ indigenous Mayan communities to use their weaving skills to recycle candy wrappers (factory over-runs and misprints) to make them! Seriously… isn’t that crazy-cool?! Buy one now for $14 at nahuiollin.com.
