A few weeks ago we got an email from 15 year old Frankee, who wanted to know how she should clean her makeup brushes. Well, Frankee, wonder no more! We went straight to makeup artist Tina Turnbow for some pro tips:
“Cleaning brushes is a daily thing for me! I usually use Mrs. Meyers All Natural Dish Soap–lemon or lavender. I’ll take a glass, pour some soap in and swirl the brushes in it, to get ‘em soapy. Then I fill the glass with warm water and start rinsing them out, squeezing the bristles of excess water and making sure they’re placed in the proper shape. Don’t dry your brushes with the hairs all splayed out!! Dry them with the handles down, fluffy ends up in the glass overnight.
If you’re in a huge hurry, use an instant brush cleaner, like Vincent Longo Hygenic Professional Brush Cleaner. Spray it on the brush and swish around on a paper towel, removing all traces of makeup. It’s mostly alcohol, so it dries quickly.”
Both products are available at drugstore.com!

More celebrity fashionistas are admitting that they’re frugalistas!
Just after learning Dakota Fanning wore her red carpet dress to a prom
this week (see here), we heard Kourtney Kardashian, from Keeping Up with the Kardashians, wore her prom dress to an Oscar event!
We
learned this from students at the Savannah College of Art and Design in
Georgia, who surveyed celebrities about how they’re saving money these
days (talk about a cool class project). They also learned that the
TODAY Show Style Editor Bobbie Thomas made her own jewelry and dress
for prom. Even the famous dress designer Nicole Miller, whose gowns
retail for more than $300-$400, told them it’s a good idea to “shop
around before making a decision,” so you can get the best deals.
What more can you do if you’re in a cash crunch for prom this year? Click “read More” to find out!
