Is there anyone MORE qualified to give tips than Melanie Mills, the spray tanner for Dancing With the Stars? I think not! She recently shared her top five self-tanning tips…

1. Always exfoliate and shave before applying self tanners. It removes dry patches that grab self tanner–that way, the application is more even!

2. Put some lotion without a self tanner in it on dry spots such as hands, elbows, feet and knees. This step is often overlooked, but it helps for the same reason as above.

3. Use a gradual tan product like St. Tropez Everyday Lotion for a nice, soft, hint of color. Hit shoulders, top of arms and sides of stomach and legs with a bronzing mist (such as St. Tropez Self Tan Spray) for extra contour.

4. Give your skin a break every once in a while from the sun and self tanners and take the time to intensely moisturize the skin to keep it looking great.

5. Finish off tanned skin with a highlighter or cream such as new St. Tropez Radiance Mousse. Sprinkle glitter or shimmer powder on shoulders for extra dazzling skin!
