I recently had a long long long overseas flight and, naturally, packed
all my favorite tabloids (reading them is like putting my brain to
sleep… very relaxing in a weirdly hypnotic way!). But, sadly, the
mags weren’t relaxing at all, because of all the AWFUL news about Chris
Brown and Rihanna. I’m still in shock about that whole situation!!! Anyway, in light of this crazy situation (and the fact that young women between the ages of 16 to 24 experience the highest per capita rates of intimate partner violence), why not support Mark’s
m.powerment campaign? All you have to do is pick up a “Have a Heart”
necklace (designed my Lauren Conrad!)… 100% of the net profits will
be donated to help raise funds and awareness for the cause! Buy it for
$22 at meetmark.com.

When I was in high school (yes, admittedly AGES ago), I was a runner. Now, you couldn’t pay me to run–my shins are shot, my knees knackered, my ankles angry. Probably due to poor technique and form on my part. With that in mind, I asked Marc Bloom, author of the recently released book YOUNG RUNNERS: The Complete Guide to Healthy Running for Kids from 5 to 18 to share his top running tips for teens:
1. Don’t start out too fast on a run. Do start out at an easy jogging pace to conserve energy, run farther and finish strong.
2. Don’t swing your arms high and across the body. Do keep your arms low while moving them up and back for better posture, breathing and comfort.
3. Don’t do all your running on hard road surfaces. Do some running on soft park trails to reduce injury risk and feel less fatigue in the long-term.
