Girl of the Week: Julie Ho

xrde108_snapshot.jpgAGE: 18
HOMETOWN: Braintree, MA

WHAT SHE’S WEARING: “I’m wearing a black C&C California dress, H&M scarf, patterned tights, and Steve Madden boots in cognac. You can’t see the detail of the earrings, but they’re my favorite silver, feather-shaped earrings.”

INSPIRATION STATION: “I think Alexa Chung’s style is spot on. She pulls off looking casual but endlessly stylish all at the same time. I also like Olivia Thirlby’s style. Otherwise, I love and am inspired by art. Personally, I really like to paint–acrylic is my main media.”

TOP NOTCH: “My favorite designer is definitely Anna Sui, for being able to create my dream wardrobe season after season.”

ALL NATURAL: “I let my style project itself through bohemian, folksy, or ethnic looking accessories. I like jewelry that has a nature-derived look to it, or anything with a folk European-esque embroidery. I like to keep a good balance between textures and shapes, prints and solids–but always with a casual element.”

GIVE IT THE BOOT: “I can’t stop wearing my leather boots right now. They’re a little bit rugged, but a little bit refined. I think boots sort of make your look go that extra mile. And there are so many styles out there; it’s really easy to get creative. I’m desperately searching for the perfect ankle boots.”

GET THE GOODS: “I think Boston consignment stores have some of the most original pieces you can find: That’s one of the ways you can be sure know one else owns whatever piece you’re wearing. Also, Urban Outfitters always has so many styles. And, if all else fails, you can always find something at Filene’s Basement or TJ Maxx for a bargain. I usually never buy anything unless it’s on sale.”

CROSS YOUR FINGERS: “I would love for hippie style crocheted vests to come back.”
