Cutting-edge Cosmetics: Cargo Lip Glosses

cargo-gloss.jpgJust as you wouldn’t put your health at risk by eating food that’s past its expiration date, you also shouldn’t take a chance on using old makeup products. They can become a breeding ground for bacteria! While many people are good at figuring out when it’s time to toss certain items like mascara, we’re not as mindful of when to throw out another major makeup bag staple–lipgloss. (Did you know that a lipgloss starts to go bad about nine months after being opened?) Since it’s impossible to keep track of exactly when you first used a particular gloss (and, if you’re like me, you have at least five different ones that you use), Cargo has come up with an innovative solution. They’ve embedded their glosses with Timestrip technology: You press the timing strip down into the cap of the lipgloss tube, and the Timestrip window will turn red over time; when nine months have passed and the entire window is red, it’s time to toss the gloss. So cool!
$22 for Classic Lip Gloss/$24 for blu_ray Lip Gloss, at Sephora.com.
