Though it’s really not necessary to shampoo every single day (it strips your hair of its natural oils), I admit to being a shampoo-aholic. When I woke up a wee bit late this morning with no time to wash my hair, I knew I was in for a bad hair day, especially with this plague of gross weather we’ve been experiencing here in NYC. But one of the perks of being a beauty intern is that I can raid the beauty closet for solutions to my beauty crises! Today’s hair-saving find: Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo. It actually absorbed all of the excess oil that had me feeling weighed down, giving my hair that extra “oomph” it needed. I just sprayed at the roots, combed through and saved my hair worries for another day! Did I mention that it smells heavenly too? Bedhead Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo, $19. tigihaircare.com.

Style maven Britt Bardo attributes her success to hard work and being in the right place at the right time. But her serious sense of style hasn’t hurt either. Bardo has emerged as a celebrity favorite, with clients like Kate Hudson and Cameron Diaz. Now, she’s the Style Expert for Mark Cosmetics. Here, she spills her top insider tips:
1. Congratulations on being named a Mark Style Expert! How did you make the leap from Midwestern girl to celebrity stylist?
Thank you! I feel very blessed to be part of the Mark team. I never set out to be a celebrity stylist! I studied photography in Detroit and by process of elimination, I guess you could say, I realized styling is what I wanted to do. So I packed my stuff and moved to NYC. It was a lot of hard work and determination, but it also was meeting the right people at the right time.
2. How would you describe your signature look?
Effortless and easy… with amazing shoes and accessories.
3. What are your favorite trends this season?
Menswear-inspired pieces, leather leggings, oversized relaxed blazers.
4. What trend would you most like to see disappear?
Tights with open-toe shoes
5. Describe your ‘I made it moment’.
I don’t necessarily feel I have ever felt that! Being asked to become a
Mark expert definitely makes me feel that my hard work has paid off, though. Also, having my own clothing line ROSE with my friend Jewels Steger feels like a great accomplishment.
