Runway Insider: Predicting Future Trends at Paris Fashion Week

Bonjour from Paris! My name’s Kelly, and I’m a Seventeen reader, a fashion student, and an aspiring stylist! Originally from Philadelphia, I’m lucky enough to be studying abroad at the Paris Fashion Institute during Paris Fashion Week. Check back for all the behind-the-scenes action (and cute clothes!) straight from the runway!

Premier Vision is the world’s best fabric show, and its been around
since 1973. Trend researchers forecast the new color palettes, textiles
and fabrics of each season. Research starts approximately two years
prior to the season, which means the clothes you’ll be wearing in 2010
are being thought about right now! Crazy, right?

Designers,
buyers, stylists, and fashion journalists are just a few that attend
the tradeshow for ideas, to come up with themes, and to place orders
for fabrics, textiles and materials they wish to use for their
collections.

This September at the Premier Vision show they
showed Autumn/Winter 09/10 fabrics at the Parc D’Expositions in Paris.
Within the exposition were thousands of stalls each showcasing their
own trend research. They had button stalls (I know, how cool is it that
they predict button styles!?) which showed the upcoming button trends:
extra large buttons, and buttons covered in colorful lace for coats- very stylish.

To find out what other trends will be in in 2010, click “read more”.
