The Look of Lim

Is there anything that Phillip Lim doesn’t do smashingly well? Even the makeup at his show was perfection. Ayako, NARS’ International Makeup Director, created a beautiful look inspired by Steve McCurry’s famous “Afghan Girl” photograph from a 1985 issue of…

A Gorgeous, School-Ready Look!

I loved the simple yet chic look at the recent BCBG show, so I had to get some tips (again, from Nars! Thank you Nars for making such gorgeous products, lol!). Here, the look from makeup artist Lisa Butler: “I…

Runway Insider: Miss Sixty Beauty

At Miss Sixty the models all had sexy, messy hair that wasn’t quite
straight, but definitely wasn’t wavy. The stylists took random 2-inch
sections of hair all over the models’ heads and twirled them in a loop
in the middle of the section, then flat-ironed the loop for about 5
seconds. Sounds complicated, but it’s super easy. Check out the
pictures below. You guys should totally experiment with this, it looked
so hot!

Runway Insider: Tracy Reese

OMG, how girly is this makeup? Isn’t this your dream dresser? Tons of amazing makeup in cute, brushed-pink packaging just overflowing off your vanity? I love it!

Not so surprisingly, the woman who created this line is Mally Roncall, and, also not-so-shockingly, the look she created for this season was all about sherbert colors…hmmm…do you think Mally’s a fan of pale pinks and oranges? She blended a pastel mandarin orange cream color onto the girls eyelids, temples and cheeks, connecting all three features in one soft wash of color. Then she made the models’ eyes pop and added a slight edge to this otherwise soft look by lining the inner rims of the their eyes with black liner. Because, according to Mally, “the Tracey Reese girl might look soft and dreamy, but she’s still a tough biatch!” OH SNAP!

Runway Insider: Hervé Leger

Here’s a cool hair trick I learned backstage from Dennis Lanni: For flat-ironed hair with volume, leave about 2-inches of roots natural. The texture will give you tons of lift, even when your strands are smooth and straight. If your hair is naturally straight, Dennis suggests crimping your roots for “magical volume.”

Runway Insider: Marchesa

Brit and Alex are going behind the scenes of New York Fashion Week and reporting on all their sightings and favorite trends!

Hey everybody, we just finished day three of fashion week! Today we
went to the Marchesa show. This show was unlike any of the other shows
we’ve seen. To start, there was no runway! The show took place in an
art gallery, and instead of strutting down a runway, the models were
dispersed throughout three rooms. They stood on blocks of various
heights, frozen like statues, and were draped in some of the most
exquisitely designed gowns we’ve ever seen! Standing on the blocks and
columns, they definitely looked like goddesses!
